Respond to Allah and His Messenger - Quran Chapter 8 – 24 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1097) -

Quran Chapter 8 – 24 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1097) -

Respond to Allah and His Messenger

Chapter ‘Anfaal (Spoils of War) – Surah – 8)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

24.  O ye who believe! Respond to Allah, and the Messenger when He calleth you to that which quickeneth you, and know that Allah cometh in between the man and his own heart, and that He it is unto Whom ye will be gathered.
24.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina  ‘aamanus-tajiibuu  Lillaahi  wa  lir-Rasuuli  ‘izaa  da-‘aakum  limaa  yuh-yiikum.  Wa’-lamuuu  ‘annAllaaha  yahuulu  baynalmar-‘i  wa  qal-bihii  wa  ‘annHuu  ‘ilayHi  tuh-sharuun.

Commentary

‘As-tajiibuu – (Respond), it is word of command from the word ‘astajaabatun. From the same origin the word ‘istajaab (past tense) was discussed in the first Section of this Chapter.

Yuh-yiikum – {(which) quickeneth (brings to life to) you}, the word yuhyii is from the origin ‘ahyaaa’, which means “to bring to life, to animate, to revive, to vivify”. It has been derived from hayaat, which means “the life”.

Yahuulu – (comes in between).

In this verse, it is commanded that you should obey the revelations of God Almighty and Sayings of His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), Islam has the same meanings. Assuredly, Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) give orders for only those matters which have advantages and benefits for the human being. There is no difference between the Commands of God Almighty and the Sayings (‘Ahaadith, Instructions) of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), because the Messengers (peace be upon Them) do not command for any such matter which is against the Will of God Almighty.

Certainly there are two results of obeying His command:

·         Worldly success and honor in the luck of obedient

·         Ease and comfort in the Hereafter for ever, and it is the life towards which, the Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) invites the people.

It is commanded that when you have accepted Islam, then you should obey the Sayings of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). If you will do so; then your success in the both worlds is indisputable. Firstly, whatever They (God and His Messenger) say, human sense can understand easily that it is the best Way for the mankind, but if someone does not understand it, even then; one should obey Their Commands most cordially and admit their advice who are intelligent than the one; that assuredly it is better for him/her.

That individual who will hesitate in obeying the Commands of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him); he should fear that; lest his heart is turned from the Belief due to adversity of suspicions? The heart of the every humankind is in the possession of Allah Almighty entirely. Remember it that God Almighty can turn the heart of humankind to that direction; He desire; lest He turn your heart from the Straight Path due to ill-luck of your doubts? Then you all will be gathered on a Day before Him and it will manifest on you that: How much destructive things were your doubts, laziness and indolence?

The deaf and dumb who have no sense - Quran Chapter 8 – 22 & 23 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1096) -

Quran Chapter 8 – 22 & 23 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1096) -

The deaf and dumb who have no sense

Chapter ‘Anfaal (Spoils of War) – Surah – 8)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

22.  Lo!  the worst of beasts in Allah’s sight are the deaf, the dumb, who have no sense.

23.  And had Allah known of any good in them He would have made them hear they would have turned away, averse.
22.  ‘Inna  sharradda-waaabbi  ‘indAllaahis-summul-buk-mullaziina  laa  ya’-qiluun.

23.  Wa  law  ‘alimAllaahu  fiihim  khayral-la-‘asma-‘ahum.  Wa  law  ‘asma—‘ahum  la-ta-wallaw-wa  hum-mu’-rizuun.

Commentary

Da-waaabbi – {moving along (beasts)}, daaa-bbatun – this word has passed in Surah ‘An-‘aam, every such living being which may move from one place to the other, is called daaa-bbatun.

‘As-summul-buk-mu – (those who are deaf and dumb), ‘As-sum is plural of asam and ’al-buk-mu is plural of ‘abkum. These both words were discussed in Surah Baqarah.

Mu’-rizuun – (the averse people), this word is plural of the subject mu’-riz, origin of which is ‘a’-raaz, derived from the word ‘arz. ‘Arz means “edge, aside”. ‘A’-raaz means “to go or fall back, to be driven aside”.

It was described earlier that you should obey God Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him); and should not be like those people who hear but do not accept. In this verse, the same matter has been emphasized and described more clearly.

It is commanded that in the sight of God Almighty; the worst of beasts are those who do not use the powers properly, which have been given by Allah Almighty, as it is necessary to use them. For example; He gave - ears for hearing so that the good instructions should be listened, tongue for speaking the Truth, asserting that which is right and asking about that which they could not understand. The heart and the brain were given for the purpose that they should draw as a useful conclusion from that which they heard and asked.

Those people who did not take the works from the ear, the tongue and the sense; which Allah Almighty has prescribed for them, those are entirely dead and gone. It aims that Allah Almighty gave everyone healthy and wholesome ears but some of them became deaf intentionally. He gave tongue but they became dumb. Due to this obstinacy; they have lost their capability of hearing and understanding the well sayings. Therefore, it is useless to cause to hear them, and even then if in such condition, you make them hear, what will you expect from them except it that they will turn away, averse?

This principle has been known from above conversation that whenever any human being makes one’s good powers useless and does not take work from them correctly, Allah Almighty leaves him and does not show him Straight Path, and he is not guided. Those people who believe in the Oneness of God Almighty, the Day of Resurrection and obey the commands of His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), they hear His Sayings and Commands with full attention.

Turn not away from the Prophet

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

20.  O ye who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger, and turn not away from Him when ye hear (Him speak).

21.  And be not as those who say, we hear, and they hear not.
20.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina ‘aamanuuu  ‘atii-‘Ullaaha  wa  RasuulaHuu  wa  laa  ta-wallaw  ‘anhu  wa  ‘antum  tasma-‘uun.

21.  Wa  laa  takuunuu  kal-laziina  qaaluu  sami’-naa  wa  hum  laa  yasma-‘uun.

Commentary

In the previous verse, it was described very clearly to the disbelievers: Some punishment against your sedition has been caused to taste you in the world. Then if you refrained from your wickedness, then you will dwell in the world with ease for some period. But if you did not refrain from evil deeds, then the same punishment is ready for you again. And at the end, the judgment was given that God Almighty is with the Believers. Now in this verse, the Believers have been commanded that; what their behavior should be, so that they may be deserving of this favor of Allah Almighty and He is their Protecting Friend and Supporter.

It is commanded: Behold O Believers! You should obey Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Revelations of God Almighty are recited before you day and night, and you hear them. You should not do so – that you turn away after hearing them. There are many things in the world which want to make you careless from Allah Almighty and draw your attention towards themselves. Being taken in their deception, you should not turn your faces from these Revelations, because you cannot get guidance from anywhere save them. Be attentive! Many such nations have passed before you, even some such people exist among you at this time who say verbally after hearing the Verses of Holy Qur’an and Sayings (Ahaadith) of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him); that they heard. But in fact their hearts are ready every time to go opposite. You should never be like them. They hear but are deaf. They have made up their mind that they will never follow the guidance and the prescribed path of Islam. And indeed they will hear the verses of Holy Qur’an and Sayings (Ahaadith) of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) but commit against Them. These people accept verbally that they hear but do not listen to with attention. Therefore; their hearing and not hearing is equal. You should not be as such.

This Section is full of precious advice and guidance with effect from the beginning to the end. If the Muslims obey and act upon These Commands wholeheartedly which have been described in this Section, they can never be disgraced and low in the world and nor can be involved in the torment of the Hereafter. This is such costly treasure; possessors of which can neither be ever necessitous of any other and nor shoe-bearers.

Plan of disbelievers - Quran Chapter 8 – 18 & 19 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1094) -

Quran Chapter 8 – 18 & 19 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1094) -

Plan of disbelievers

Chapter ‘Anfaal (Spoils of War) – Surah – 8)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

18.  That (is the case); and (know) that Allah (it is) Who maketh weak the plan of disbelievers.

19.  (O Qureysh!) If ye sought a judgment, now hath the judgment come unto you. And if ye cease (from persecuting the believers) it will be better for you, but if ye return (to the attack) We also shall return. And your host will avail you naught, however numerous it be, and (know) that Allah is with the believers.
18.  Zaalikum  wa  ‘annAllaaha  muuhinu  kaydil-kaafiriin.

19.  ‘In-  tastaf-tihuu  faqad  jaaa-‘akumul-fat-h.   Wa  ‘in-  tan-tahuu  fa-huwa  khayrul-lakum.  Wa  ‘in-  ta-‘uuduu  na-‘ud.  Wa  lan-  tugni-ya  ‘ankum  fi-‘atukum  shay-‘anw-wa  law  kasurat,  wa  ‘annAllaaha  ma-‘al-Mu’-miniin.

Commentary

Zaalikum – (That), it is a demonstrative pronoun and a group is being addressed, so the pronoun second person plural “kum” has been increased (with the word Zaalika). It aims “this has already happened” now hear the next to it.

Muuhinu – (Who makes weak), it is “the subject” from the word ‘iihaan, which has been derived from the word wahan. Wahan means weakness, laziness. ‘Iihaan means “to make feeble or weak”.

Tan-tahuu – {you cease (abstain)}, origin of this word is ‘intahaa, which means “to reach the limit, to end, to stop”. This word has been derived from nihaayatun which means “result, end, last, extent and ultimate etc.

It is commanded: Did you see that Allah Almighty annihilated all plans of the disbelievers, and as you have observed a very little miracle of His Omnipotence at this time, like this, their entire tricks against you will be destroyed in future too.

Then Allah Almighty addresses the idolaters and infidels: You sought a judgment, so take it, this decision is before you. Today; you are disgraced and the Muslims have overwhelmed you. It is the punishment of this world only. After it, when you will come back to life again after death, there, you would have to suffer a separate more severe torment.

If now, you ceased your diabolical acts and refrained from persecuting the Muslims; it would be better for you. Otherwise, if you gripped up your loins for wicked deeds, then you will be punished again like this. You should not consider that you will commit evils on the basis of your supporters. They will never harm Islam notwithstanding that they would be much more in numbers. Remember it also that Allah Almighty is with the believers and He has promised to help them.

A test of Believers - Quran Chapter 8 – 17 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1093) -

Quran Chapter 8 – 17 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1093) -

A test of Believers

Chapter ‘Anfaal (Spoils of War) – Surah – 8)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

17.  Ye (Muslims) slew them not, but Allah slew them. And thou (Muhammad) threwest not when thou didst throw, but Allah threw, that He might test the believers by a fair test from Him. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower.
17.  Falam  taqtuluuhum  wa  laa  kin-nAllaaha  qatalahum.  Wa  maa ramayta  ‘iz  ramayta  wa  laakin-nAllaaha  ramaa.  Wa  liyubli-yal-Mu’-miniina  minhu  balaaa-‘an  hasanaa.  ‘InnAllaaha  Samii-‘un  ‘Aliim.

Commentary

Balaaa-‘un – (a test), this word’s actual meanings are “test and trial”, but the test is given in both forms i.e. prosperity as well as with plight. Therefore, it is used in both meanings i.e. kindness, reward and calamity.

Liyubli-ya – (in order to favor), before the actual word – “li” has been used which means “so that”. Yubli-ya is origin from ‘ablaaa-‘un, which has been derived from the word balaaa-‘un, meaning of which has been mentioned above. ‘ablaaa-‘un means “descending difficulty”, but here it aims favor, i.e. to oblige.

It was described in the previous verses that Allah Almighty arranged with His Intent and Command that the Muslims should stand before the infidels whose strength was threefold more than them at the situation of Badr, in order to show the Wonder of His Omnipotence and defeat the Disbelievers by means of these handful strength of Believers.

For this purpose, He (God Almighty) cast the terror of Muslims into the hearts of Disbelievers, sent the Angels (peace be upon Them) for their help and commanded the Muslims: Attack over the infidels fearless, today; they have been suppressed from you.

It has been explained in this verse: What the mankind dare that he may do something? That is God Almighty; Who does everything. The Muslims slew the Disbelievers, because Allah Almighty desired that they should be slain. When the battle was being exercised with full pressure, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) threw a handful dust towards the infidels and said: Shaahatil-wujuuh (their faces have been disfigured). That dust touched the faces of the disbelievers and then they were disappointed.

It is commanded: O Muslims! You did not slay the infidels, but Allah Almighty slew them. After that, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is being addressed: that handful dust which You threw towards the idolaters, was not thrown by You, in fact; that was thrown by Allah Almighty. It was the reason; which had such effect that they were entangled in distress, because Allah Almighty desired that the Muslims should win the war and they acquire honor and superiority in the world.
