Commentary
‘Alif-Laaam-Miiim-Saaad –
it is not one word but these are four separate alphabetical letters and one
should recite them separately as Alif. Lam.
Mim.Sad.In the beginning of
some Surahs (Chapters) of Holy Qur’an, some
letters of alphabet have been mentioned, meanings of which have not been
explained. But those are recited properly. Those letters are called “Muqatt-‘aat”
(small cuttings and short verses). For its detail, please consult the beginning
of Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (second Chapter of Holy Qur’an as
it has been explained there.
From
the beginning of this Chapter, it shows that there will be description in it
about those disbelievers, who prevent from the Right Path and are disobedient.
The world has been created on this rule that there are only a few people, who
trust in them who speak the Truth, whereas maximum people oppose openly in the
beginning. Some of them are such people, apparently who imitate stupidly but
they are opposite heartily.
These
three kinds of people have been described in the beginning of Surah
‘Al-Baqarah. The last kind of both people prove to be big teasers and
troublesome. Such people afflicted the Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be
upon Them) as much as they could. Open enemies of the Truth will be mentioned
in this Chapter. As it was revealed in Makkah, because the
hypocrites did not exist in Makkah, but there were open enemies of
the last Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon
Him) and those, who embraced Islam. Therefore, Allah Almighty instructs to His
Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in the beginning of
this Surah that, this Scripture, which We revealed upon Him,
is for the purpose that, the enemies and opposite people should be frightened
by means of It, and those should be told their useful matters who believe in
it.
If the
people do neither listen to you (the Messenger) and nor believe, there should
neither be any grief in Your heart, nor be sad and nor any hesitation should be
born in Your heart to cause to hear the Holy Qur’an. You should
continue frightening them with full faith from the punishment of their
infidelity and wicked deeds by reciting Holy Qur’an before
them unhesitatingly. And you should not care for that what they say or hear.
There is sufficient useful stuff in the verses of this same Scripture for them
who believe. They will reap much advantages from them (verses).
You
should say to every individual: Come to me! This Scripture has not been created
by any mankind. There is nothing self-made in It. It has been sent down unto
you by your Lord. Don’t hear any of them to whom you have chosen as your
companions and protecting friends. Your best companion, supporter and
protecting friend is your Lord, God Almighty. Obey Him only and do not obey any
other against His Commandment. Only He provides all things of your necessity.
But alas! You don’t pay attention. Think for a while and count His bounties,
then certainly you will neither hear any other, nor accept except Him.
This all was being described to
the people of Makkah at that time, when
this Chapter was being revealed, but in fact, it is an address for
the entire people of the world, and Command for every era and every sensible
person.
