164. Allah verily hath shown grace to the believers by
sending unto them a Messenger of their own who reciteth unto them His
Revelations, and causeth them to grow, and teacheth them the Scripture and
Wisdom; although before (he came to them) they were in flagrant error.

Commentary
Manna – {(He) did
acts of kindness}, the words “man, yamunnu, ‘imtanaan, mannat etc.
are from the same origin. In the Holy Qur’an, it is only one
likeness, which Allah Almighty has spoken about His favor conferred on His
servants. It is the greatest kindness of Allah Almighty upon the mankind that
He sent a Man as His Messenger (SallAllaahu
‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) who is like other men. It is easy for
the human beings to sit near him, to talk with him, to learn the Word (Qur’an)
of Allah Almighty from him (SallAllaahu
‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) and to reap the benefits of each
type of His blessings. The people know very well the morality, honesty, trust,
sincerity, purity, mercy and circumstances of this Messenger (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam).
When they observe the miracles appearing from the person, who belongs to their
own folk and nation, it becomes easy for them to believe in him. Even if any
demon or Angel (peace be upon him) had come as messenger, seeing his miracles,
the people could have pretended: He does not belong to our class (mankind).
Therefore, his morality and deeds are not follow-able for us. So, Allah
Almighty sent a mankind as His Messenger (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam), who has good
moral character, is merciful, mild and affectionate, from whom they can get
bounty frankly. Allah Almighty has bestowed four basic excellences, which have
already been described in Suratul Baqarah (The Cow):
1.
The Messenger (SallAllaahu
‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) recites the Revelations of Allah
Almighty and causes to hear the people by reciting, apparent meanings of which
(Revelations) are able to be understood very easily by the people of the Arab
as the Arabic was their own language.
2.
He (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi
wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) purifies the people from sins, evils,
idol-worshiping and polytheism. By removing the badness, he (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) cleanses
their hearts.
3.
He teaches the Scripture of Allah Almighty. Where it seems
difficult to understand by the people, he (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) removes the
doubts by clearing its meanings.
4.
He (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi
wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) teaches knowledge of Wisdom to the
people, how to reach the bottom line, explains the secrets, signs and deep
matters of Holy Qur’an.
The
Messenger (SallAllaahu ‘alayHi
wa ‘AaliHii Wasallam) of Allah Almighty formed the Arab nation
as spiritual guide and master of the entire world by his love and teachings,
which had been drowned in ignorance and astray, which had no perfection or
excellence of the world.
