260. And when Abraham said (unto his Lord): My Lord!
Show me how Thou givest life to the dead! He said: Dost thou not believe?
Abraham said: Yea, but (I ask) in order that my heart may be
at ease. (His Lord) said: Take four of the birds and cause
them to incline unto thee, then place a part of them on each hill, then call
them, they will come to thee in haste. And know that Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Commentary
Kayfa – (how), here it
is clear that Prophet Abraham did not expose his doubt in becoming alive of the
dead, but he asked only that in which special condition will they be brought
back to life. What the particular method would be adopted to give them life
again?
min-hunna juz-
‘an –
{a part of their (the birds’) bodies each}), that is to say; pieces from the
mixed minced-meat of those four birds.
In the verses numbers
255-257, Allah Almighty commanded after describing about His Omnipotence and
Greatness that the Paths of Guidance and Straying have been obvious (The right
direction is henceforth distinct from error). Therefore, now every sensible
person should adopt the Path of goodness.
Then, Holy Qur’an explained
after mentioning different incidents that; in spite of opening the Paths of
right and error clearly, some people go astray. In this connection, stories of
Abraham (peace be upon Him) and Namrud, power of giving life to the
dead, and Ezra (peace be up[on Him) were told. In this verse, one more story of
Abraham has been described.
